Carparks, Portobello Aquarium
University of Otago
When Portobello Marine Studies Aquarium’s steeply sloping gravel carpark area needed attention earlier this year, Clearwater Civil was booked to do the job.
“It involved a lot of kerb and channel and drainage work, installing sumps and outlet pipes, before asphalting and sealing it,” says Darcy. “From a surfacing perspective, the steepness of the site was the main challenge.”
Health and safety was a key priority on this project, given the high use of the site by both scientists and various visiting school groups. “We made sure there were clear paths available for safe access.”
